Why?: It's got so much potential, some cool characters and themes... but it hasn't DONE anything with it yet. Feels really episodic so far, just like a simple series of events.
What is Gundam 00's biggest strength? Awesome mecha designs, really interesting global setting
What is Gundam 00's biggest weakness? Some of the characters are pointless, and like I said, no real coherent plot.

Sergei, killed by... going to say Hallelujah, beamsaber'd while protecting Soma
Ali, killed by Setsuna (to be fair, he deserves it), beam saber through the cockpit
Lockon, fighting one of the Thrones, beats his foe but dies of exhaustion/injuries
Marina, assassinated, likely by Ali.

Gundam 00 Needs More: Patrick, Graham, Soma/Sergei, and actual plot
Gundam 00 Needs Less: Cryptic analysis by Alejandro and Liu Mei, pointless Saji/Louise/Mom scenes

This is my catch-all for this thread and your reply to my response. (Warning: May contain sports similes and metaphors.)

First, I totally agree on the potential. And the fact they have gone nowhere with it as of yet. Hopefully this week's episode actually starts the damn plot.

Second, I agree on three of your four predicted deaths. Unfortunately, I don't agree on Marina. I think she and Setsuna survive to have a HORRRRRRRRIBLE romance story about former enemies becoming lovers. This will hopefully be the worst part of the show.

But, this means Lockon's gonna bite it. And if Lockon and Graham both bite it... guh. My reaction will range from getting drunk to... getting Michigan-drunk.

Oh, and I don't think being attracted to Lockon necessarily makes you gay/bi, it just means you have good taste. Because he is a sexy bitch. And has the voice of a sexy bitch (Urahara from Bleach).

See, I'm gambling on the age gap and stated fact that 00 won't really have a focus on romance to hope that Marina and Setsuna won't hook up. Hopefully. Plus, there's that sequence in the OP where she throws her arms back / looks like she's dying and turns into Exia, so...

and if Lockon and Graham BOTH die then that will suck. But Graham, he is A CHAR, and the two arguably most famous Chars (Zechs and, well, Char) both survived their series (CCA notwithstanding). So I have hope.

But Lockon is the likable older brother character. And those NEVER last in mecha :(
